The Haskins 3-Color Flashlight came with a valuable lesson in antique shopping. After spending half an hour searching a shop on North 2nd Street for interesting lanterns and flashlights, a simple question to the owner revealed a hidden bin filled with exactly what I’d been looking for. Ever since, asking about flashlights has become my first order of business in any antique or salvage shop, though wandering every aisle is still part of the fun.
Painting this particular find came together surprisingly quickly, from the initial sketch to the final touches.
Maybe it was the rainy holiday weekend, a burst of inspiration, or simply being in the mood to paint. Whatever the reason, the process felt unusually effortless. As the seventh painting in my series, it reminded me that sometimes creativity moves at its own pace, and the best thing to do is enjoy the momentum.
